The Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Hon. Rachel Shebesh met with the Samburu County Commissioner Mr Wilson Nyakwanga and the local administration at Maralal town in follow-up to the Presidential directive to end FGM in Kenya within three years.

The CAS asked the local administration to ensure coordination is effective in implementing the directive for maximum impact and results within the timelines. She further warned that complacent Chiefs will be dealt with harshly. She also used the moment to present the Guidelines for conducting Community dialogues and Alternative Rites of Passage, documents formulated by the Anti FGM Board.

The CAS was accompanied by the County’s elected leaders among them Samburu East MP Hon. Naisula Lesuuda, Samburu West MP Hon. Jackson Lentoi and Women Rep Hon. Maison Leshoomo. The leaders pledged to ensure the directive is implemented and called for more closer collaborations.
