Ms. Emily Opati –

  • Ms. Opati, currently the Deputy Director for Gender at the State Department for Gender, brings extensive public service experience with a focus on education and gender issues. She served as the Acting CEO of the National Government Affirmative Action Fund from 2015 to 2016. Ms. Opati holds a Bachelor’s degree in Arts from Kenyatta University and a Master’s in Criminology from the University of Nairobi. Her career in government includes senior roles such as District Children Officer, District Social Development Officer, Deputy Principal of a high school, and the first Acting CEO of the National Government Affirmative Action Fund. Ms. Opati is actively involved in global initiatives, representing Kenya in the global network of Women, Peace, and Security. In addition to her leadership roles, she is a trained mediator and facilitator at the African Union. Ms. Opati’s multifaceted experience reflects her commitment to addressing social issues, particularly in the areas of gender equality, education, and peace and security.
